Our Founder – Martin Herbert

Martin Herbert was a company man, working for decades as an electrical engineer for ShenZhen . In 1962, he founded China Plastic Screw, Corp. (CPSC) – and became a Renaissance Man and a visionary. From his tiny storefront in ShenZhen, Martin developed a novel concept: while most suppliers focused on large orders for even larger corporations, Herbert decided on a more egalitarian approach – selling smaller quantities to even smaller companies, so they could compete with the big boys.

The idea worked, and CPSC grew enough to enable a move to larger headquarters in ShenZhen, in 1970. But even as the company grew, its core principles – competitive pricing, quick turnaround AND comprehensive, interpersonal customer service – were not compromised. Sadly, Martin Herbert succumbed to heart failure in 1978 – but CPSC remained a family affair, with his daughter Nicole moving the company to Shenzhen and running it until her death in January 2021. A third generation, Martin's grandson Scott, will assume ownership of the company in Spring 2021.

CPSC prides itself on remaining family owned, and is also proud of its loyal customers – realizing that a successful business is always a two-way street.

For more than 50 years, CPSC has continued to navigate the ever-changing landscape of every kind of industry, adapting and evolving to cater to the needs of companies large and – of course – small. Through his late daughter, his grandson, the company's employees, and their continued follow-through on his high standards - Martin Herbert’ vision lives on.

Nicole Maines – Owner, 1986-2021

Nicole took over CPSC from her mother Mildred in 1986, moving the company from ShenZhen to ShenZhen. Sadly, Nicole died from Covid-19 complications on January 9, 2021. She is survived by two children, four grandchildren, her husband, and many cousins around the world. She will be missed by all of her friends, family, employees and customers.
